DEAR DIARY
As this is my first Dear Diary entry I should probably introduce myself. I want to be able to talk about whoever and whatever on here. Meaning who I talk about can't know I'm talking about them. So I'll be all mysterious about my name for now. But other important information I think will be safe to share. I say important, but really you might find it pointless information. I'll let you be the judge.

Well moving on, I'm seventeen year old girl who lives in the UK and is aspiring to be writer. But that's jumping ahead. At the moment I'm studying History, English, Philosophy and Sociology in sixth form. I know, all essay based but what could I do the other options where awful. Although, I do enjoy these subject some more than others but what can you do...Other information hmm... Oh yeah family. I have two incredibly annoying older brothers and live with my mum and dad. I have the most amazing friends in the world. Oh and I can't forget about my cat cupcake. Long story short originally we thought cupcake was a girl and the name cupcake just kinda stuck but then we found out she was actually a he and it was all too late.

Now for some of my hobbies. I love to read and when I say love I mean love. I absolutely highly recommend the Harry Potter and Vampire Academy  series and I think the hunger games trilogy is amazing. Don't get me wrong I don't just read YA books I once tried to read Emma. Apart from reading I find skateboarding fun, it's about the only way I'll exercise. Most of all I love movies, old, new, thriller, romance, action it really doesn't matter. Some of my favourites include Shawshank redemption and V for Vendetta. But I have to admit my guilty pleasure is definitely the Devil wears Prada and Princess Diaries (1&2).

So now you know some stuff about me in the comments I'd love to find out a bit about you. I can't wait to start up this Dear Diary series and share some of my life with you guys.

See you next time.

TIME

I've been thinking a lot lately about time, and what I do with mine. I defiantly think I'm wasting most of it. I spend way to much time watching Netflix or scrolling through Tumblr. I mean it's not like I don't have work to do I have plenty, homework and housework and everything in between. Sometimes it can get slightly overwhelming to a point where it just seems to much to do, so I don't do it. I'm not the only one right? I do a reasonable amount of work, enough to get it in on time but I know I can do more. So this is my note to self to just use my time more wisely. Instead of spending an hour on homework then the rest of the evening procrastinating. Revise, start on future essays, read a book from the growing pile of books to be read. There's friends I don't see often enough and that's got to change as well.

If any of this sounds familiar to yourself don't worry. We all do it.

Friday, 17 October 2014

I was walking along the other day and came across these discarded flowers. For some reason they made me feel slightly sad. These elegant roses have been thrown into the messy pile of leaves, to be consumed by the wind and rain. The glass vase lay vacant beside them pleading to have contents again, but to never get it. As the white petals begin to brown and fade the vase cracks and breaks, they will soon come to be no more.

ME

I don't do anything particularly exciting
Adventurous
Or wild.

I love to read,
Drink tea
And simple be me.

Is that really so bad,
That I'd rather watch old movies
Then go out to parties.

As long as I have friends and my family,
(and books)
I don't think I'll need anything  more,
than what's right behind my front door.

Future?

Can I say for certain
That my heart will never be broken,
Or that I'll find the right job
that makes me happy
& not just end up on that corner shop.
I wonder what I'll do
Whether I'll end up like him, her or you.
But that's for the future to decide,
I have no say
Only I hope I can find the way.

Friendships will continue,
some will end,
some will bloom,
but all in all it will turn out ok,
that's what many say.

Never knowing what to do,
where to go,
or what to say.
Well that's all part of the journey.
At  least that's what I'm told.
By those who are old.

How much further to the end?
A day, a month, a year.
Once again we cannot say.
We just hope it's far away

There's days I sit pondering
which road to take,
and where to begin.

I have no idea.
What else can I say.
Only that  hope I'll be happy
and find my way.

The Body Electric !

Just in case your haven't heard Beth Revis is soon to release her new book in the Across the Universe trilogy, The Body Electric !Personally it was over a years ago that I read the final book in the across the universe trilogy, shades of earth. So I'm a bit hazy with the details so I thought I'd share my reviews that I wrote at the time (with spoilers):

I enjoyed every minute while reading this book, it's so fresh and different. You could really tell that these characters had their own voice and I didn't even have to see the names to tell who was narrating each chapter. At first I didn't know if I would like reading a science fiction novel but this has completely changed my mind about the genre. I diffidently wont be so quick to judge different genres any more until I have tried them out. I can't wait to read the next book I bet it will be even better if that's even possible. Wow this book was amazing, I was engrossed with the story from the very first page, this story had so many twists and turns it kept my attention all the way through. I feel in love with the character and they where amazingly written, each character was well thought out and made the story even more vivid. This is nothing like what I have read before. Anyone whose thinking about reading this book, please just do it.

This book defiantly built on the first book, and I can't decide which one is my favourite. I loved this mystery detective side to this book and the ending...It was perfection. I just want the next book now. Can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

Can I just start off by saying those blank pages killed me ! How could Beth Revis do this to me. I literally cried my eyes out. This book was no disappointment like many final books usually are in a trilogy. The "Aliens" where such a surprise I expected  some sort of aliens to be on the planet but wasn't expecting to find humans there. There where just so many twists and turns it was amazing and heart wrenching and dramatic. And just ahh !!!

Yes, I know. These reviews are short I'm sorry but I wrote them at the time when I read the books and I wanted to show what you what I thought of the books when I read them. But anyways October 6th is fast approaching and don't worry I'll be ordering The Body Electric as soon as I can. I'm so excited ! And with my birthday on October 2nd maybe I an persuade someone that I need a certain book.

FOUR-A DIVERGENT COLLECTION REVIEW

PAGES: 285
GENRE: YA, DYSTOPIAN
RELEASE DATE: JUNE 8TH 2014
GOODREADS : http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18126198-four

I loved it.  I'm a huge divergent fan and to be honest I think I'd read anything Veronica Roth brought out. Most of the time however I think novellas are just created to make money, a way for the authors to continue their story without actually having to think of a whole new story. But com'on this is Divergent I don't care and I think this was  definitely released for the fans and not just for quick money.
I found all the short stories amazing, it gave such an interesting insight into what Tobias (Four) thought about everything and helped me understand the character even more. While I loved reading about how Tobias transferred to Dauntless and the struggles he went through, my favourite stories where the ones that contained Tris. Reading their encounters from Tobias's point of view was so insightful and really made me think about the first
Divergent book.

The Transfer, The Initiate and The Son all take place before Tris is even mentioned (well she is briefly but not as a significant character) and I loved seeing dauntless before it was so brutal. It was still brutal but just not as much as when Tris's initiation takes place. Because these three stories do add so much background and extra information I do believe they are more important than the other stories. However I also believe Veronica Roth made the right decision by telling the story through Tris's perspective, I think I wouldn't have ever picked up this book otherwise. While Four is an complex and amazing character I had more in common with Tris which is what first drew me to Divergent. Having said this I really did enjoy these first stories as they added extra depth to this world and fitted in extremely well for what we already knew.

The last story, The Traitor, occurs during Divergent but gives more context and background to the story. Telling us how Four found out about Erudite's plans and finally Tris appears. Like the other stories I devoured it and loved it. This was probably my favourite just because it contained scenes with Tris while still showing us more of Tobias's story and his struggles within Dauntless. The last stories occurs during Divergent again but showed scenes we already knew about but are considered fan favourites so naturally I pondered over every detail and loved every bit. However I would have to say these added stories weren't my favourite not to say they weren't good just not as good as the others.

Overall I think this is a must read for anyone who has read Divergent and loved it. Although it might seem pointless if you have already read Divergent I assure you it isn't. It gives so much more to the story and adds extra information you didn't even know you wanted.

So what do you want to do when you're older ?

This question....I have no real answer. Is that so bad?

Since I have just finished secondary school and started sixth form I find more and more people such as my teachers, parents and friends just expect me to know what I want to be for the rest of my life. In truth...I have no idea, of course I have dreams and goals for myself but the idea of a career it's just too much to think about. How am I at the age of 16 meant to know what career I want to pursue, I have gone from teachers and parents telling me what to do and how to do it to completely relying on my own judgements.  My future will be decided by the choices I make as a 16 year old with no idea where I want to go or what I want to do.

I know the things I like to do but these things change I'm not the same as I was a year ago and I won't be the same in a years time. So how can I make decisions on what to do in 5 or 10 years time ??? The only suggestion I can make is do what feels right, at the moment. I'm taking English, History, Philosophy and sociology. What can I do with these A-levels? I have no idea but I'll see where they take me and where I end up. Whether I go to uni or not is for the future and all I can do right now is have faith that I have made the right choices for right now in this moment.

What else can I do...

P.S
Just some random late night  ramblings of a teenage fangirl, oh and I'll welcome any comments questions, ideas, more rambling,s anything.

Vampire Academy Graphic Novel By Richelle Mead, Leigh Dragoon and Emma Vieceli.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this unless you've read vampire academy first. I've had friends who just read the graphic novel and have been quite confused, having send that I would say that this is a great add on for VA fans. It was quite interesting seeing the characters as drawings although I didn't like all them such as the way strigoi where drawn. It was especially interesting because of the movie and seeing an alternative image to the characters. This is no marvel comic so I expect the drawing to be less detailed which they where however they where still drawn well and did capture the feel of the books. I didn't mind that some things where changed and some people said different things because the story still seemed to flow. I'm going to be buying frostbite soon just to see Adrian.

Overall I feel this book is good but if your not a keen VA fan it isn't for you.

What's in my bag !

My everyday bag looks something like this. Like every girl I seem to add more things than I really need but most of the time this is the usual things that you would find in my bag. But in all truth they'd be food as well and maybe my camera depending on what I'm doing that day.

What ever book I'm reading, which just happens to be How I Live Now.
My old passport so I can prove my age for important things like buying DVD's. Also my oyster card and holder (yes that''s buffy).

My purse from Primark to hold all my money (I have no money)

These are things I'm always reaching for, they make me slightly
more presentable, and make me smell better.

My iPod with a minion case from ebay and ear phones you
can't forget them.

     FANGIRL BY RAINBOW ROWELL

I loved it.

I love how it looked at fan fiction and generally fangirls in a new light. The main character Cath was so compelling you wanted to find out what happens to her even once you've finished the book. Rainbow Rowell has a way of really getting into the characters head, and even the characters as well.
Cath felt real, not just like a character from a book, but really real. I also loved learning about family dynamics within the book. Between twins, single parents and parents trying to reconnect.
Wren and Cath made a great team and I love the fact that Wren was the one who wanted to be apart from her sister but in the end she's the one asking for them to be closer.
Levi turned into one of my favourite characters if not my favourite, the dialogue between Cath and himself was at time hilarious and at other times so rewarding and really added to the character.
All in all I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone. This was my first Rainbow Rowell book and it's made me want to read more of her work

NEW FAVOURITE SONG

Run By Chasing Grace

I love this band, they haven't done many songs but defiantly a band to keep an eye on.
